The following complet miniprogram demonstrates the problem (correctly lists 
the two files "Test.class" and "Test.java" on when run on Windows XP but hangs 
on when run Fedora Red Hat Linux):

import org.apache.commons.net.ftp.*;
import java.net.*;
import java.io.*;

public class Test {

    public static void main (String[] args) {
      FTPClient ftp = new FTPClient();
      try {
        ftp.connect("konsensys.com");
        ftp.login("errorlog@konsensys.com", "errorlog");
        String[] files = ftp.listNames();
        for (int i = 0; i < files.length; i++)
            System.out.println(files[i]);
      }
      catch (Exception ex) {
      }
    }
}
