           Summary: Compile Errors when Importing in VAJ 4
           Product: Commons
           Version: 3.1
          Platform: PC
        OS/Version: Windows 2000
            Status: NEW
          Severity: major
          Priority: P2
         Component: Collections
        AssignedTo: commons-dev@jakarta.apache.org
        ReportedBy: dmueller@electronicpartner.de

Hi,
when I try to import Collections Framework into IBM VisualAge for Java (VAJ) 4,
I get loads of Compile Errors.
(For your information: VAJ is Java 1.2.2 based...)

Most Errors are in the Testing Framework, so could be ignored.
However, there are quite a few Errors from using

Entry

instead of

Map.Entry,

for Example in

AbstractReferenceMap
    public Object get(Object key) {
        purgeBeforeRead();
        Entry entry = getEntry(key);
        if (entry == null) {
            return null;
        }
        return entry.getValue();
    }

It would be nice for less adventurous users not to have to change the source
code in order to use this in VAJ.

I can send you the changed sources.

Yours,
David

P.S.: The severity "major" is debatable... 8-)
