I'm attaching a new patch showing diff to the original version (1.35) before I 
applied the change for this bug.

Ihis will work as you suggested, plus it will take account of any positions 
specified - for either default or overridden arguments.

I'll also upload a full version of the FieldTest - may help to understand what 
conditions it will cope with.
