What I am saying, Martin, is that if your intended behavior is that "if your 
threshold is 4096 bytes, then anything smaller than that will be retained in 
memory, and anything larger will be written to disk", then there is a bug,
because files of 0 size are written to disk even if the threshold is set to 5096
