Re point 2: I tested both Gnu and Posix parsers - the relavant behavior is in 
a shared "Parser" superclass, where the parsing code is littered with inline 
string literals like "-" and "--".

Re: Point 3. Check the code - the constructor for Options only enforces that a 
long arg name is set for each option. But, when the help formatter asks 
Options for a list of Option objects to iterate over, it passes a list derived 
from the short argument names.

A rewrite of CLI would be very welcome... I'll check it out.
