I just did this myself by adding source="1.4" to build.xml.  This can be 
overridden using a javac.source property in build.properties if desired.

To make it compile in JDK 5.0 natively (i.e. without source="xxx"), JDK 5.0 
syntax changes are needed (things like the type of keys in the InitialContext 
params map) ;(
