Commons/Net is an Internet protocol suite Java library which supports Finger, Whois, TFTP, Telnet, POP3, FTP, NNTP, SMTP, and some miscellaneous protocols like Time and Echo as well as BSD R command support. This release adds, for the first time, autodetection of FTP server type when retrieving an FTP listing so that non-unix FTP servers can automatically provide usable listings with valid dates, etc. Server types supported in this are Windows NT, OS2, VMS, OS400. Formerly only unix was supported in this way. This enables its automatic use in Ant's FTP task, for example, for these server types as well as the original unix.
