Looking at the CharSet.java,v, it looks like Stephen reworked the
CharRange on 2003/07/31. Phil then rewrote the parsing on 2003/08/02.


It seems that Stephen put them in when he reworked and that Phil
removed them when he reworked, but he missed the private vars.

So they can be removed.
