I'll take a closer look at this (it's been bugging us a lot lately) and submit a
patch. It's definitely a problem.

I hear Rodney's concern: the answer may be to have two separate trace objects:
one being a "createdBy()", and one being a "lastAllocatedBy()". If that's
important..
