There are no indications this is Commons Net problem and I cannot reproduce it on
either Win2k professional or Win2k advanced server.  The problem lies elsewhere,
perhaps in the telnet server you are connecting to.  There is nothing in the
telnet code that would cause contiguous occurrences of a character to be
condensed into one.
