The AbandonedObjectPool implementation has been problematic at best, and
seems to have been abandoned by those that committed it.

I'd like to make some functor-based pool implementations available, which
would allow those that desire abandonded object pool implementations to
"plug-in" that behavior over the top of any arbitrary pool implementation
(rather than implementing a distinct pool class) for those that strongly
desire this functionality.  Someday I hope to find the time to do that.
