I totally agree! In fact I have a fix for this. It is included with a fix for
bug #10319 for automatically instantiating values if they are not there, but
are needed to set a nested property. I will be including this as soon as I can
(I have some other tasks that I am working on first).
What I've done is built a class called PropertyUtil (similar to PropertyUtils)
that actually wraps PropertyUtils with more features. I'm not sure if I should
leave it as a wrapper or if instead I should create a patch directly to
PropertyUtils... any preferences?
