Access to underlying native logging provider missing

------- Additional Comments From ch@ipin.com 2002-11-01 16:55 -------

You are hitting the exact issue. We've been bundling Log4j into our software
until recently, but the customers would like to be able to choose the native
logging implementation themselves. Commons-logging exactly allows to choose the
logging provider at runtime. But it does not work well in our software, because
we use JMX to configure the logging system(s) dynamically and for that we are
missing access to the native logging provider.
