the idea is that you create two releases. newbies and those who just want 
to give it a try can grab the 'ready-to-run' released jar containing all 
the code they need to get started. more experienced developers will grab 
the base jar and manage the dependencies themselves.

i've seen this done elsewhere and it can work well.
