Subject Re: [logging] are there standard logging practices?
Date Mon, 22 Jul 2002 15:08:52 GMT
Nothing written up under logging... There is some info in AXIS. I'll take
a shot at putting together a best-practices guide for logging... it's
likely to be controversial :-)

Is there a set of standard logging practices reccomended by
commons-logging?

I'm looking for what information should be logged at a particular
level. Some consistancy here is good for those that use a bunch of
jakarta commons packages together in their application. They can set
the log level once and get the expected information flow from all
jakarta commons components consistantly at that level.

In particular interest, what should be logged at INFO level?
Information for the end user? Are exception stack traces OK to log at
any level, or just debug?
