Subject Re: [HttpClient] [Patch] Proxies and SSL
Date Tue, 23 Jul 2002 07:14:04 GMT
dIon,

Attached a test patch to the Bug 8457. This lets you perform all the
external host tests (also SSL) using a proxy. The proxy may be
authenticating or not. See the JavaDoc in TestExternalHost.java

The only problem I encountered with the existing test was
TestMethodsExternalHost::testIOException.
If the proxy is unable to resolve a DNS name in a CONNECT query no
Exception is thrown but a 5xx HTTP status-code is returned (which
probably strongly depends on the proxy implementation). Maybe the
ConnectMethod should throw an exception for some status codes from the
proxy instead of returning them. But this needs to be discussed.

happy testing

Odi
