I'm fairly sure that the Log and LogSource orginated with HttpClient.  We
wanted to be able to perform logging, but some were uncomfortable with a
runtime dependency on Log4J; this was the compromise.  Craig's assertion
that the original contribution was influenced by Log4J is fair IMO.

I am still trying to track down where the first Log and LogSource came
from.  I tracked it back to httpclient, and I am looking further.  Rod,
can you tell me where the Log and LogSource originated from in
httpclient?
