If all else fails, the Cocoon log files are still your friend - the
problems I have had in the past with getting a database to work
were, in almost every case, highlighted in some way there.

This is the <init-param> I added to my web.xml file:

and I put mysql-connector-java-5.1.6-bin.jar into:

C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Tomcat
