Well, I had problems accessing some sitemap parameters with 
${parameters.getParameter('param1')}. I tried to change this to  
${cocoon.parameters.getParameter('param1')}. It did not work for me, so 
I changed the code to JXPath:

#{$cocoon/parameters/param1}

which does the job.
