A guess, could you try:

<jx:macro name="xmlize">
 		<jx:parameter name="value"/>
 		<jx:parameter name="ignoreRoot" default="false"/>
 		<jx:set var="ignored"
value="${cocoon.session.getAttribute('stringToSAX')( value,
cocoon.consumer, ignoreRoot )}"/>
 	</jx:macro>

as your macro. Something did change, to do with accessing
session/request I think, just not sure when. I'm also not sure whether
this is valid syntax. :-(
