However instead of combining 2 pipelines (book and xdocs), I'm combining a session context, a web configuration file (controls my common look and feel), a book pipeline (left menu) and my web main web content (xdocs). You should read about the url encoder parameters in the component section of the sitemap to make sure it's doing what you want. Good luck!
