The {} means that the expression between the brackets will get calculated.

I tried! ...but try this:
<jx:set var="static">Herr</jx:set>
e <jx:out value="${static.equals('Herr')}"/>
= <jx:out value="${static == 'Herr'}"/>

The result is:
e false
= false

:(

Should be true, or?

???
