Hi Corin,
I have come across a site which documents the attributes related to the 
object itself, and I quote:

"DECLARE=DECLARE  can be written simply as DECLARE"

So it seems I have been chasing my own tail for nothing. Sorry for the 
inconvenience but many thanks for your help.
