I think, you must also read this:
http://cocoon.apache.org/2.1/userdocs/concepts/modules.html

And your the sitemap snip:
<map:transform type="sql">
  <map:parameter name="use-connection" value="YourConnectionName"/>
  <map:parameter name="your-parameter" value="{request-param:ParameterName}"/>
</map:transform>

I think it's clear example :-)
