You can then search for the XSPPage class in the javadocs/ or src/ 
directories - for example:

javadocs/org/apache/cocoon/processor/xsp/XSPPage.html

You can also read the "How it Works" page which gives some limited internal 
information (though very little).

More docs welcome, if anyone wants to write them.
