You can replace name() by any function or element name or @attribute_name.

<table>
  <column-width>5</column-width>
</table>
with this XML in the table element context you can do it this way:
<fo:table-column column-width="{column-width}" />
or
<fo:table-column column-width="{@column-width}" />
with this:
<table column-width="5">
  <rows/>
</table>
