In HTML if you have 30 spaces it will be interpreted as a single space.
But if you don't want spaces at all it becomes a problem.

Maybe <xsl:strip-space> will solve the problem, cause it is used to
control how the whitespace-only text nodes are handled.

Why must <td> and </td> be on the same line?
AFAIK in HTML it shouldn't matter if you have one space,
30 spaces, or a line break between <td> and </td>.
Is it a browser bug you try to work around?
