Cocoon 2 is designed to address these issues.  You will be able to use it
as a servlet, a command line program, or as a Avalon Block.  The last one
is most intriguing because it allows you to use Cocoon from JAMES (using
the Mailet API), or from your own dedicated server solutions.

(Whether Cocoon will be a whole Block or a Component may be born out in
discussion later, but either way, it will be useful in many contexts).
