It solved...the problem was the variable called JAVA_HOME which had
disappeared. It's strange but fixed now. It was a question of environment...

Check that java-directory/lib/tools.jar is on your CLASSPATH, where 
"java-directory" is replaced by your JDK directory.

You are using JDK1.2 or above, right?
