Thanks for the info.
I think what I need to do is to get the HeaderProcessor.java , compile it
and add a reference to it in the cocoon.properties file in the Processor
section. Is this right?. And also can I use this http PI half way through my
XSP page ie). Doing soem business logic checks and redirecting based on the
results.

   You could use HttpHeaderProcessor from DB Prism Servlet Engine to get
this
functionality.   Simple you has to insert into XML results this PI:
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<?cocoon-process type="http"?>
<?http mode="Location" url="http://xml.apache.org/"?>
<dummy/>
