Well looking at the release cycle of the last 2 versions ,which was 
2.1.9 in april 2006 and 2.1.8 in november 2005, I guess another 
five-eight months to get 2.2 out should be feasable. So it makes sence 
that we should stop the 2.1.x branch and move on to 2.2.

So here is my (non-binding) +1.
