Well, I was recently helping a friend, who is a graphic designer who has
recently been reading a book on XSLT to get Cocoon running on his Mac.

He has now, on his own, created a simple page using XML and XSLT,
however he hasn't the faintest idea what Java is, and quite possibly
never will. But, for some of the sites he wants to build, he finds the
possibilities with Cocoon to be quite exciting - couldn't do them with
just Dreamweaver.

So, assuming that someone can install a JDK and set their own JAVA_HOME
does preclude some users, particularly those who may be happy with just
XML, XSLT and sitemap.

P.S. I've also had him writing up his experiences as he goes. If we're
lucky, we might get some decent beginner oriented articles out of him.
