not only agreeing with carsten, I don't see it as philosophical or style issue
but mainly as sticking to contracts. so you intended to not release a component
you looked up just to save three lines of code..? your choice. and for me the
suggestion to people is not whether something useful is done (which you can only
tell when you know what implementation is used and what the implementation
does), but to stick to contracts.
