this is what get's logged when I issue 
getLogger().error( <xsp-request:get-parameter name="test"/> )

(/gemini-manager/) Thread-11/request_xsp: łżę2

(I do not know if you will see polish letters but trust me this is correct)

the same one did under flow via 
cocoon.log.error( cocoon.request.get( "test" ) );

I am nearly sure that this worked few days ago (I've been updating cocoon much
so I cannot give you the exact date)
