Uh, oh. Clarification: it is needed for images in PNG format.
GIF, JPG and BMP should work out of the box. SVG need a
matching Batik (matching the interface against the FOP jar was
compiled, that is). TIFF is a bit special, it may work if
TIFF support was compiled in, otherwise it needs Jimi. In
either case, not all TIFF subformats are supported, and the
two sets of supported subformats are different.
Then there's EPS. Anybody out there who needs EPS?
