Are you very, very sure that the node is not a document node?

It is "normal" that this problem occurs with Document nodes, but it should not
occur with any other type of node, since the startDocument and endDocument
events are explicitely stripped.

If you are sure it's not a document node:
 - what XSLT processor are you using?
 - could you attach a testcase reproducing the problem? (I wasn't able to
reproduce it myself on a standard C2.0.4, I used a combination of the write and
readdomsessiontransformers and that worked just fine).
