They *do* have execute permissions (and had them for a looong time):

-r-xr-xr-x   1 bruno        cocoon    1057 Apr 30 07:11 build.sh,v
-r-xr-xr-x   1 bdelacretaz  cocoon   10238 May  1 23:53 cocoon.sh,v

And as mentioned before, this will be fixed in the M2 release. So what's the
problem then? (i.e. why has this bug been reopened?)
