If you enable logging for the xslt-processor component, you can see the
parameters with which the resolver is called:

For Xalan 2.5 XSLTC:
DEBUG (2003-05-09) 10:06.57:194 [core.xslt-processor] (/test)
PoolThread-3/XSLTProcessorImpl: resolve(href =
file:/home/bruno/oss/cocoon-2.1/build/webapp/context://test/test.xml, base =
null); resolver = org.apache.cocoon.components.CocoonComponentManager@914f6a

For Xalan 2.4.1 XSLTC (or just xalan), it gives:
DEBUG (2003-05-09) 10:15.07:341 [core.xslt-processor] (/test)
PoolThread-4/XSLTProcessorImpl: resolve(href = context://test/test.xml, base =
null); resolver = org.apache.cocoon.components.CocoonComponentManager@1f4cbee

Obviously in the first case the href parameter is wrong. This is a problem with
XSLTC, not in Cocoon.
