That's exactly what I meant. The transformation can either completely fail as
with Xalan or "recover by returning an empty node-set". As far as I know it's
not possible to configure Xalan, but Saxon has a mode where recovering is
possible. But for more information on this ask on the according mailing lists:

If yes, please reset the bug to INVALID.
