Unfortunately this is true. Sniff...I'm still looking for a way to lock the
repository :) - that would be a nice feature for open source development...

I guess the problem lies in switching between HEAD and the branch. I usually
have two separate checkout directories one for the branch and one for HEAD,
so I don't have to switch. This solved the problem with the sticky tag for
me.
