I meant the 'title' attribute of HTML elements. E.g.:
<xf:text>
  ...
  <xf:hint>Click to continue</xf:hint>
</xf:text>

could be transformed to (HTML):

<input type="text" title="Click to continue" .../>

and this will be displayed as a usual hint (a floating box).

Regarding the XForms recommendations: I haven't yet read their last document, 
can't say anything about it. As I remember, they don't have anything equivalent 
to selectBoolean.
One thing I can say for sure is that they have left the 'select1' element name 
unchanged.
