First, are you using the correct CVSROOT?

It should be something like this:

:ext:${username}@cvs.apache.org:/home/cvs

Where "${username}" is your login account on cvs.apache.org.


If you are not using that CVSROOT, or you don't have a login
for cvs.apache.org, then there is more that has to happen before
you can commit.

Noone has Karma to commit to the public CVS repository.

If you have the correct CVSROOT, send a mail to the person who
requested your info for commit privelesges.
