whitespace outside tags in XSPs generates superfluous code

Summary: whitespace outside tags in XSPs generates superfluous
                    code
           Product: Cocoon 2
           Version: Current CVS
          Platform: Other
        OS/Version: Other
            Status: NEW
          Severity: Normal
          Priority: Other
         Component: core
        AssignedTo: cocoon-dev@xml.apache.org
        ReportedBy: guillaumed@users.sourceforge.net

All whitespace between tags in XSPs get transformed into superfluous code : this
code emits SAX events only for creating whitespace-only text nodes.
Such nodes should be stripped out just before code generation takes place.
