This was just some thoughts as what you describe is as if the socket was 
still open after all content was received.

A quick search for "keep-alive" in the bugparade at java.sun.com shows 
several bugs related to http 1.1 keep-alive. Maybe you'll find more 
information there.

Some other thoughts : Does it occur always on the same server ? If yes, 
isn't is an incorrect content-length sent by this server, etc, etc...
