SGML had CONCUR & SUBDOC... CONCUR for addressing more or less the same
problem domain as Namespaces does (going even further: CONCURrent DTD's could
be in effect in one document, something even XML Schemas & Namespaces don't
really support, or at least in a user-friendly way).

With all due respect: Namespaces were really an afterthought for XML, and this
clearly shows.

Just some memories from an old SGML-buff ... :-)
