Thanks Berin for the pointer re: volatile, I've just updated the patch with your
advice. Max requests are no longer logged in the Cocoon class itself. I'm
writing a class that will do this externally (operating as a separate thread to
avoid
synchronization).

Avalon's instrumenting interesting. Where can I find out more information ? :)
