thanks to all for the replies, and sorry for the crap reporting on my part!

I'm running JDK1.3 on W2000, Tomcat 3.2.1, latest CVS of C2.  The only
problem seems to be with XSP pages, which get recompiled each time they are
loaded.

I'll try all your suggestions and report back with logs etc if I'm still
having problems...
