All the JDK's above 1.2 will get you the best mileage and least =
headaches.

Blackdown's jdk1.2.2RC4 Works For Me (tm) on RH 6.2.

IBM has a preview release of their upcoming JDK (newer than the 1.1.8) =
which
is the fastest thing on Interpreted OO bytecode wheels.

I have these choices:

Blackdown's jdk118_v1
Sun's JDK 1.2.2
Sun's JDK 1.3beta
IBM JDK 1.1.8
