Thanks.   But the problem is worse than I thought.  The .java and .class
files now aren't even being created.  I'm getting a NULL pointer in a
HandlerThread in my watch shell window (which is a Tomcat issue I believe)
and then the java process that was doing the work just stays at using 99.9%
of the CPU and doesn't go away.
any other ideas??
