Subject Cocoon1.7.2/Jakarta.3.1/Apache.1.3.12 success!!
Date Thu, 27 Apr 2000 21:30:20 GMT
Well, for what it is worth, Cocoon 1.7.2 works great with Apache 1.3.12,
raven 4.2 & tomcat 1.0 (Jakarta 3.1).

Here is what I did to get all of the hoops to work. I'm sure that I did
this the HARD way.

I added the following to the jakarta-tomcat/conf/server.xml file:

        <Context path="/cocoon" docBase="webapps/cocoon" debug="0"
reloadable="true" >

Then I unpacked the Cocoon-1.7.2 tarball into

Then I followed Stefano's directions by adding all of the jar files to
the jakarta-tomcat/lib directory. I edited the web.xml file to point to
the file.

Then I started tomcat with jakarta-tomcat/bin/ Took the
generated tomcat-apache.conf file, changed it by adding the following:

 Alias /cocoon /opt/APACHEhttpd/jakarta-tomcat/webapps/cocoon
 <Directory "/opt/APACHEhttpd/jakarta-tomcat/webapps/cocoon">
     Options Indexes FollowSymLinks

 ApJServMount /cocoon/servlet /cocoon
 <Location /cocoon/WEB-INF/ >
     AllowOverride None
     deny from all
 Action cocoon /servlet/org.apache.cocoon.Cocoon
 AddHandler cocoon xml

Then I started Apache.

Thu Apr 27 14:12:30 2000] [notice] Apache/1.3.12 (Unix)
secured_by_Raven/1.4.2 tomcat/1.0 configured -- resuming normal

And then the URL to see if cocoon was working OK changed to
/cocoon/Cocoon.xml. But that is OK. So now from the Cocoon.xml page I

Configurations   /opt/APACHEhttpd/jakarta-tomcat/conf/
Servlet Engine Tomcat Web Server/3.1 (JSP 1.1; Servlet 2.2; Java
1.2.1; SunOS 5.8 x86; java.vendor=Sun Microsystems Inc.)

So Stefano, you can add this to the list of working systems.
